Meet Rebecca Johnson

I'm Rebecca, the founder of Beyond the Bookshelf and a lifelong advocate for literacy and education equity. With a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and over a decade of experience in nonprofit program management, I’ve dedicated my career to ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to the books, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.

My passion for literacy stems from firsthand experiences working in schools, libraries, and community programs, where I witnessed the transformative power of books. I’ve led large-scale book donation initiatives, designed literacy programs that engage diverse communities, and provided consulting services to families and organizations looking to make a lasting impact.

At Beyond the Bookshelf, I combine my love for storytelling, education, and advocacy to create solutions that make reading an accessible and joyful experience for all.
